A mother of three is celebrating a major milestone after doctors found no evidence of cancer following a liver transplant. In 2024, Amy Piccioli was diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer after doctors discovered a colon mass and liver lesions during an emergency room visit near her home in Los Angeles. After chemotherapy and immunotherapy, Piccioli pursued a liver transplant option for cancer that had spread to her liver.

Close family friend Lauren Prior volunteered to be tested and was found to be a match. The two women underwent successful transplant surgery in December, during which doctors removed a portion of Prior’s liver and transplanted it into Piccioli.

Now just three months after the procedure, she says doctors have found no evidence of disease and that she’s feeling back to normal. Piccoli says the experience has changed her outlook on life and she expressed gratitude to her donor and medical team. She hopes her story gives hope to others facing a cancer diagnosis.
